Idiot Proof Diet Handbook Review

The Idiot Proof Diet, also known as the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet, has become one of the most popular and successful diet plans today. It has been successfully used by tens of thousands of people around the world. But what is the Idiot Proof Diet? What is it based on and how does it work?

The Idiot Proof Diet was given the name it has, because it's supposed to be so simple that even an idiot can do it. But don't let the name turn you off, it may be simple to use, but the science behind it isn't simple at all.

The Idiot Proof Diet is based on the Shifting Calories Method.

The Shifting Calories Method was created when it was discovered that, over a period of time, your metabolism grows accustomed to the type and quantity of food that you eat. This is the main reason why low carb, low fat, low protein, and low calorie diets may provide an initial weight loss, but not a long termed one. You see, your metabolism adjusts to the new quantity of food that you eat or to the lack of the food group (carbs, proteins, fat) that you deprive yourself of, and slows down.

That's why over 95% of diets fail, because they don't keep the metabolism running at a high level. A slow metabolism means a slow rate of fat burn and it also means that once you get off your diet and go back to eating normally, your metabolism is so slow that you end up gaining all the weight you lost and even more, much faster than you can imagine.

The Shifting Calories method is about keeping the metabolism off balance, never letting it get used to any eating routine so that it remains at a high level of fat burn. You do that by constantly rotating your food. Sounds difficult? That's why the Idiot Proof Diet comes with a unique menu software which tells you what to eat and when. You get to eat 4 meals every day but the type of food is always shifted around, so you continue to burn fat at a high rate for a long time.

The Idiot Proof Diet doesn't involve exercise, so anyone who is interested in developing muscles should try something else. The Idiot Proof Diet is strictly a weight loss diet.

The Idiot Proof Diet states that you can lose 9 lbs. every 11 days you're on this diet. I don't want to burst anyone's bubble here, but that's ambitious and not all users of this diet manage to lose so much. But losing 6 lbs. every 11 days is pretty common on this diet. Sure, there are many users who lose 9 lbs. every 11 days, some even more, but not all of them.

The important thing to remember that it does take commitment. You have to follow the menu you get. It's not hard but it has to be done in order for you to succede.

Overall, the Idiot Proof Diet is what it says it is: a simple to use, reasonable diet that doens't starve you and gets you great results. I'd say that it's a great diet for people who want to lose fat fast and keep it off for a long long time.

Alternative Weight Loss Exercises to Lose Weight Fast

Each time I talk to people who wants to lose weight, the first thing in their mind is to eat lesser, and lesser and lesser. While this works in a short term, it is not a long term solution

The long term solution is for weight loss is exercise. When you exercise, you burn off calories from the food you take. With lesser calories inside your body, it will lead you to lose weight. It would be of great advantage if you have a proper weight loss plan where you include weight loss exercises that will help you to lose weight.

There are unlimited alternatives to weight loss exercises if you start thinking out of the box. You can invest a little in purchasing exercise equipments which you can use at home. You can start by purchasing dead weights, dumb bells, exercise balls and treadmill if you budget allows. There are abundance of weight loss exercises DVDs out there in the stores with easy instructions you can follow.

If you have a bigger budget for exercises, you should start thinking of registering as a member of your local fitness centers or gyms. Some of them might have relatively higher monthly fees, so it's advisable that you start scouting around first.

At the fitness centers or gyms, you will find a full range of exercise equipments, classes you can attend and personal trainers available to guide you through the weight loss exercises.

If you are tight on budget and do not want to spend in purchasing any weight loss exercises equipments or sign up for a fitness center membership, you can find an exercise buddy. Find someone who clicks well with you and share the same interests as you.

Both of you then can do some exercises together, like walking around your neighborhood, walking around the garden, outdoor cycling and such. This will not only strengthen your relationship with them, but also keep yourself motivated to reach your goals, lose weight.

You don't have to sign up for the fitness center yet. Get to know what kind of weight loss exercises the fitness trainers teach their clients at the gym before deciding. Find out more here. http://www.FatBurn4Idiots.com

The Truth About Acupuncture Point for Weight Loss

You may have heard of acupuncture practices that claim that there is an acupuncture point for weight loss. What is the truth? Is there really a specific acupuncture point for weight loss? Read on to find out.

Acupuncture and weight loss

Acupuncture is a kind of traditional medical treatment that is believed to have originated from China. It involves the insertion of very thin and long needles into the body. According to this method, our body has certain points that when triggered by the needles can aid in restoring health and well-being. That is why acupuncture is commonly used to treat pain. Nowadays, new techniques in acupuncture claim to aid in weight loss.

Your ear and your weight

No matter how far off it sounds, the ear is actually the acupuncture point for weight loss. Some studies show that when that specific point in the ear is punctured, it can release endorphins in the body that has relaxing and calming effects to make it easier for us to deal with anxiety, frustration and stress, all of which normally trigger bingeing and overeating sweets and other comfort foods (translation: fattening). Endorphines also affect the endocrine and hormonal systems. Acupuncture also aids in increasing metabolic rate, so that you can burn calories faster.

Stapling the ear?

Ear stapling is one of the new ways to lose weight. This is done by puncturing a surgical staple wire onto your ear cartilage. According to women who participated in this weight loss regimen, they felt pain in their jaws, which made it hard for them to chew or open their mouths properly. This is probably the reason why they managed to lose weight. Be careful, though, because back-alley clinics and sometimes even licensed acupuncturists make mistakes during the procedure. It is still advisable to use tried and tested yet safe methods for dieting, like eating healthy foods and exercising regularly.

Cardiovascular Disease and Weight Loss

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is an umbrella term covering disorders of the heart and blood vessels. It includes coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, and hypertension (high blood pressure). Overweight, lack of exercise, stress, and a high-fat diet are major contributing factors to all CVD.

Coronary artery disease: In order to supply the rest of the body with blood, the heart muscle needs oxygenated blood itself. It gets it from the coronary arteries located on the outside wall of the heart. When one or more of these arteries are narrowed, blood flow is restricted or may be halted altogether. The result is coronary artery disease, the major underlying cause of heart attack.

One sign that the heart muscle is not getting enough oxygen are the chest pains of angina. This type of chest pain usually occurs during activity and is relieved by rest.

Atherosclerosis: This is a condition in which fatty deposits build up on the inside of arterial walls. As the arteries narrow, they cannot carry sufficient blood to the tissues. To compensate, the heart pumps harder, blood pressure increases, and many parts of the body are damaged as a result. Everything from poor circulation in the limbs to heart attack and stroke can be blamed on atherosclerosis.

Some people are more prone to atherosclerosis than others, but there is no question that a highfat diet is a major contributor. People who are overweight, lead a sedentary lifestyle, and have high cholesterol levels are at much increased risk for developing atherosclerosis.

High blood pressure: Also called hypertension, high blood pressure is a condition in which the pressure exerted by blood as it is pumped through the arteries is consistently higher than normal. Normally, blood pressure at rest should not be greater than 120/80. Blood pressure is considered high if it is repeatedly and persistently higher than 140/90.

High blood pressure can damage the arteries, heart, and other organs, including the kidneys and the eyes. It increases the risk for heart attack, coronary artery disease, a stroke, kidney failure, and loss of sight due to damage to the retina. Hypertension is more common in men than women, and the incidence increases with age.

Being overweight is one of the most important risk factors for high blood pressure. People who are 20 percent overweight are eight times more likely to have high blood pressure than people of normal weight.

When your blood pressure is taken, the compression cuff on your arm causes a column of mercury to rise in a metered column. Two measurements are taken: the systolic reading is blood pressure at its highest, when the heart muscle contracts; the diastolic reading is blood pressure at its low point, when the heart muscle relaxes. In a blood pressure reading of 120/80, for example, the higher number (120) is systolic, the lower (80) is diastolic. Cardiovascular disease

Technology & Weight Loss: Putting An Online Tool to Use

Because the Internet allows so many millions of people to be connected to any single site, function or feature, many programmers and marketing folks have put their heads together to come up with some really neat online tools. Many of these tools are not only useful and convenient, but they are often times free to use. We like free! Some examples include area code locators, mortgage calculators, metric conversion charts and many, many more.

Today I ran across a free tool that is available to us courtesy of the US Government. The Deparment of Health & Human Services, National Institutes of Health, makes this tool available. The tool is called an Interactive Menu Planner and it's worth spending a few minutes exploring.

The tool's original intent seems to be as a menu planner that one would use on a daily basis in order to calculate the total calories, total fat and total carbohydrates for all three meals each and every day. Because the interface is a little bit "clunky" and the tool takes a while to plug in an entire day's meals, I don't think it's really practical to use every day. However, that doesn't mean that it's not useful. Load it up in a browser and take a peek for yourself while I point out a few things that I found interesting.

The first thing you need to do is to select the number of daily calories you plan to consume. The number can range from 1200 to 2000. There are no guidelines as to how many calories you should start with so use common sense to select a number. Factors such as body size (less the fat you want to lose), type of occupation, amount of daily exercise, and age should be taken into consideration. Your doctor may have a suggestion as well.

Once you've selected a daily calorie target, select "Breakfast" as your first meal. Mentally segment your daily calories into three fairly equal parts. If you've selected 2000 calories, you should try to aim for around 600 - 650 calories per meal, leaving a few left over for an evening snack. Move over to the right where the food itself is located. Start at the top and select a food item from the food groups you typically eat for breakfast. It doesn't matter if it's what you ate today, or are planning to eat, the education is in the experience.

As you select a "food item" you must remember to also select the number of servings in the next column. For instance, if you typically eat two kiwi fruit at breakfast, select "1 Kiwi" from the "food" column and select "2" from the servings column. The thing that I really like about this tool is that it updates after every item is selected. Continue on through breakfast adding items as you go. You may select multiple items from any of the food groups. As you continue, you will see the menu for breakfast grow longer for each added item.

Try to ignore the totals on the left-hand side until you have finished selecting each of the items that make up your typical breakfast. Once done, look at the totals to see how much damage you've done. If you find, like I did, that you need to make some adjustments to each meal if you want to get three meals a day in, you can remove some of your items or reduce the number of servings. To do so, simply select one of the items already in your breakfast menu and change the servings to zero to remove it completely, or just lower the number to reduce it.

Once you've set your breakfast menu, continue on to lunch and repeat the process. After you've finished your lunch menu, repeat the process for dinner. If you still have some calories left over, you can go ahead and treat yourself to a snack; if you exceed your total allowed calories at any time, a warning message will pop up.

There are a few things about this exercise that I believe are particularly educational. The first is the degree to which the daily calories can be thrown off by simple things such as beverages. For my breakfast I selected a bagel. I watched carefully as I slowly added a tablespoon of cream cheese and some jelly, thinking they would cause a dramatic increase. To my dismay, a couple teaspoons of jelly and a tablespoon of cream cheese added only 75 calories. It was the bagel that was the major offender, coming in at a whopping 320 calories!

I decided to see how much the daily totals would be affected by selecting a large glass of "Kool Aid" as a drink. I have children in the house and "Kool Aid" is available and convenient. But is it a good decision?

For my lunch menu, I selected "8 oz. Kool Aid" as a beverage. But wait, do you know how small an 8 oz. glass is? I plugged in "2" servings just to be safe. To my horror, that single beverage selection came to 232 calories, or just over 11% of my daily total! I quickly "zeroed out" the "Kool Aid" and opted instead for water.

Another shocker was the cream that I use in my morning coffee or tea. Drinking two cups of black coffee adds only 20 calories to your daily menu. However, if you lighten up those two cups of coffee with a couple of tablespoons of cream each, you can add nearly 100 calories to your diet. A teaspoon of sugar adds only 15 calories, and that's typically the item we'd be inclined to abandon first.

The second thing that I realized is that, with a little bit of planning, a person can still eat a substantial amount of food and stay within their daily caloric budget, especially if you choose wisely. I'm a substantially sized guy with an active lifestyle who should be able to consume 2000 calories per day and still lose weight. Using this tool can help me do so without starving and without busting my budget.

Again, I don't think it's terribly practical to suggest you use this tool every day, but referring to it every now and again can help you ascertain the average number of calories you are consuming each day, make sure you aren't making any bad menu decisions, and help you to win the battle of the bulge!

Natural Healthy Weight Loss

The secret to achieving healthy weight loss is changing your diet and walking.

That simple statement is basically all you need to know for a successful weight loss program. One would think that this simple guideline would be easy enough to follow. Unfortunately, this is not true for about 35% of all Americans who are incapable of losing weight and keeping it off.

It is true that once we are overweight that we wish to lose it for a couple of reasons. Some are interested in improved health and others wish to look better.

An important point to consider is that it is never too late to lose weight. It is a known fact that the majority of those attempting to lose weight usually stray. The tendency is to return to old eating patterns and to return to sedentary ways.

Despite all that it is possible to lose weight in a healthy manner and to keep it off permanently. The significance of extra weight is much more than cosmetic. It takes a significant toll on your health.

The Way To Lose Weight Is Naturally

The basics of maintaining your proper weight is not complicated. Truth be told, much of it is common sense. That which you don't know can be easily learned. Losing weight in a natural manner, in reality, should not be difficult at all.

A reasonable approach to losing weight is to transform your diet. This is quite different from dieting. What you wish to accomplish is a lifestyle change that you can implement for the rest of your life.

The most practical diet for losing weight and maintaining your health should consist of complex carbohydrates (whole grains), high in fiber (whole grains, beans, vegetables and fruit), moderate in protein and low in fat.

As for activity, I'm not fond of exercise programs for most people. It is true that for a segment of the population that they can join a gym and dedicate themselves to a regular fitness program. Unfortunately, that doesn't apply to most of us. However, walking on a regular basis is something that is available to most people. It is low impact, has great benefits and is easy to incorporate into our daily routine.

Another misconception is eating several, smaller meals is an effective means to starve off hunger. In reality, this doesn't work and is harmful to our digestive system.

The healthy approach is to eat three, wholesome meals per day. While you're at it, eat as much as you wish. The caveat here is to chew your food extremely well. When you chew your food extremely well you gain these benefits. 90% of your food will be pre-digested in your mouth. It will eliminate some of the burden on your stomach and digestive tract. You will absorb the nutrition from your food much easier and be satisfied sooner.

Natural weight loss is a lifestyle process, not a fad. It requires setting goals, but not the goals that you may think. The goal is to alter your habits. Once this is accomplished your weight loss will be effortless. Just as important, you will be healthier and will feel better.

Burn The Fat - Why Most People Get It All Wrong When It Comes To Burning The Fat

Most people get it all wrong when they try to burn fat. They focus on losing fat and try a bunch of crazy methods instead of doing what is proven to work.

The truth is that losing fat is not the easiest thing you are going to accomplish this year. But the wonderful feeling you are going to experience when you see that you actually lost more than 10 pounds will be your reward.

Are you ready to discover how to burn fat and feed the muscle at the same time? As a martial artist, I don't care about all these commercial "Atkins", "slim fast" or "LA weight loss" diets.

Frankly, I've seen my mother struggling with slim fast for years and I wonder if this stuff is really working. In any case, here is what I do and what I advise you to do as well. I use interval and strength training to burn the fat and feed the muscle. In fact, my primary goal isn't to lose weight, but this comes naturally as a result of my training.

So how I get rid of this belly fat?

This will happen after your training session since you burned a lot of calories.

Craig Ballantyne calls this "turbulence training".

You want to do exercises like the stationary cycle that allow you to train in interval. At the same time, you need to use resistance. I mean that you are always working against a resistance. As an example, many people try to make a lot of repetitions without a lot of weights in their strength training sessions.

It's better to do less repetition, do it faster and add more weights.

Weight Loss Made Simple

The Plan

You don't need diet pills or television gimmicks to lose weight. All you need is a good diet plan, and you need to stick to it. Any good diet plan needs only two parts, an eating plan and exercise. I prefer to use the term eating plan over diet because the word diet makes me think of eating less food, or food that has little or no taste. The plan is to kick up your metabolism so that you're burning more calories during the day. Consult your doctor before beginning any exercise or diet program.

20 Minutes a Day, 3 Days a Week

This is one of the best and easiest ways to get your exercise in and build lean muscle. Muscle building is one of the important parts of this guide. An extra pound of muscle will burn about 50 calories a day even if you're sitting and watching television. To build lean muscle, do a weight circuit. Do squats, push-ups, bent-over row, military press, upright row, triceps, wall sit, and bicep curls with a set of free weights that you're comfortable with. Try to go from one exercise to the next without resting, and this will keep your heart rate up. Rest a minute or two between sets. Start with 2 sets of the circuit and then move to 3 sets when you're ready.

How to Eat

Make sure you eat first thing in the morning to jumpstart you metabolism. Eat six times a day, three small meals and snack in between. Frequent eating will keep your metabolism running strong. Drink plenty of water as this also helps metabolism. If you're feeling hungry, then drink a glass of water, and if you're still hungry after that then go ahead and eat. Sometime thirst can be confused with hunger and a lot of people don't drink enough water every day.

What to Eat

Eat as many vegetables as you like. Eat foods like lean meats, eggs, low or non-fat dairy, beans, nuts, berries, oatmeal, whole grain food, and definitely ad some whey protein after workouts. Stay away from trans fats, saturated fats and high fructose corn syrup. Unsaturated fats are good for you and are found in olive oil, nuts, avocados, etc. Use olive oil to cook with instead of butter. Use this guideline to make a healthy version of things you like to eat. For an example, you could make a pizza with a whole wheat crust, tomato sauce, lean meat such as turkey or chicken, and any type of vegetables you like.

Stick to the Plan

Don't go on and off of fad diets, you'll end up weighing more than when you started. Make a lifestyle change by eating healthy and exercising, because it's a sure way to lose weight and keep it off. You don't have to use the plan in this guide, but it's what works for me.

Hope this was helpful, for more info visit http://gf-weightloss.blogspot.com Thanks, Greg Green.

Liver Detox Diet

You probably know by now that the liver is one of the most important organs in the human body. It's the body's natural filter that helps convert toxins into substances that can be discarded easily. Therefore, to have a healthy body, it is of vital importance that we keep this important organ in good condition. A healthy liver means a healthy body. One of the ways to help maintain your liver in good working condition is to go on a liver detox diet.

Since the liver is the first to receive toxins that enter the body, it has one of the highest toxin accumulations in the body. While the liver's main task is to clean the toxins and other wastes that are absorbed by the bloodstream in the body, the liver does not always able to discard hard substances such as heavy metals. Some of these toxins don't end up leaving the body and then what will happen is that there will be a type of toxin buildup throughout the body, especially the liver. Therefore, it is more important to detox the liver than detoxification of any other body system. The objective of a liver detox diet is to cleanse the liver of all the toxic wastes that have stagnated in the liver over the years.

A liver detox diet involves a person restricting oneself to organic foods such as raw vegetables, fruits and whole grains. The 2 ingredients that the liver needs in order to function properly are water and glucose. These ingredients aid the body's system to get rid of accumulated toxins. So, drinking a lot of water helps as it helps to flush toxins out of your system. A person on a liver detox diet must avoid foods that are not liver friendly such as fried and processed foods, sugar, coffee and saturated fats.

All in all, a complete liver detoxification will help to restore functionality to the liver as well as to the rest of the body. All of the body's organs are vitally important to maintaining a healthy body, but cleansing your liver will help the most! If you're experiencing poor health, aching body, tired most of the time, go on a liver detox diet.

What Weight Loss Fitness Program Should You Use?

So you're looking for a high quality weight loss fitness program? There are so many out there which one is best for you? This article is designed to point you in the right direction and to shed a little light on how best to achieve your weight loss goals.

An excellent way of slimming is to use exercise programs and fitness plans as a way to help you not only lose weight and burn fat, but to improve fitness and boost your energy levels. Improved fitness levels and lower body fat will also help reduce the chances of overweight related illnesses such as heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes. Exercise has also been shown to help your brain to function properly so incorporating a quality weight loss fitness program will not only benefit your physical health, it will also improve your mental health! Exercising for weight loss doesn't have to be hard, just consistent. So long as you stay committed to a program you will constantly improve your fitness and drop those excess pounds.

It is also of vital importance to incorporate quality nutrition along with any new weight loss fitness program - this will help you achieve any weight loss goals you have quicker and enable you to keep the fat off permanently. Your body uses food for energy and any excess energy is stored as fat. This means should you eat more food than your body needs for daily activities and cell maintenance, you will gain weight. In order to lose weight, you must get your body to use up these stores of fat. The most effective way to do this is to simply increase your levels of daily activity whilst reducing the amount of calories you eat. This is why experts talk about weight loss in terms of diet and exercise.

Recent studies have shown that the optimal way to lose fat is to increase your metabolism so you burn stored fat even whilst resting, a high intensity weight loss fitness program can help with this. The fundamental principles of High Intensity Training (HIT) are that any exercise should be brief, infrequent, and intense. Each exercise should be performed with a high level of effort so that it will stimulate the body to produce an increase in muscular strength and size whilst simultaneously losing fat. It promotes quicker increases in fitness levels since all your muscle fiber types are stimulated in the process.

Strength training should also be incorporated into any weight loss fitness program. Every pound of muscle burns approximately 35 calories per day so it is of vital importance to at least maintain your muscle mass. Adding muscle will raise your resting metabolic rate and will greatly increase the chance that the weight loss (more accurately fat loss) will be maintained. This resting metabolic rate accounts for 60 to 75 percent of your daily calorie expenditure, so even a modest increase will help burn off more fat.

A great weight loss fitness program will incorporate both high intensity and strength training, remember an increase in muscle tissue is a good thing - it helps your body to lose fat all day by increasing your metabolism, reducing the chance of injury and making everything you do easier!

Visit my site Weight Loss Fitness Program and take a look at a free routine developed by me to help you see great results. Also featured on my site is a review of the fitness program that I currently use - if you are serious about achieving your goals I urge you to check it out.

How To Lose 25 Pounds Fast

Let me start by saying that you can lose 25 pounds and even more just by following a healthy lifestyle, exercising more, and keeping a sensible diet. However, I would like to suggest a diet method which can help you to do it faster.

I'm referring to the Calorie Shifting method which has been steadily gaining popularity over the past few years. By using a Calorie Shifting method based diet (and there are currently 2 such diets on the market) you can avoid the biggest hurdle of most diets: the slowing metabolism.

Most diets are basically based on depriving your body of either calories or a specific food group like fat or carbs. Either of these things can lead to an initial weight loss, but can also slow your metabolism down considerably so that you'll see a gradual decline in your weight loss rate, and may even gain it all back when you quit dieting. This is vitally important since I'm sure you won't be satisfied with just losing 25 pounds, you'll want to avoid gaining them back ever again. This is done by constantly shifting your calories to produce a metabolic maintenance state. I know it sounds a bit scientific, but it just works.

The 2 Calorie shifting diets on the market today are called Fat Loss 4 Idiots and Yay Food. You can read a detailed comparison of the 2 on this webpage: Calorie Shifting Diet Review

Each of the 2 diets has its own pros and cons. Fat Loss 4 Idiots has the longer and more proven track record. It can help you to lose 25 lbs fast. However, Yay food can also provide you with the jump start and guidance that you need.

Can you lose 25 pounds in a month with either of these 2 diets? The answer is that it's different for each person. Some may lose 25 pounds in 6 weeks, some may lose 25 lbs in 2 months. A month seems to me to be a little unrealistic, but even if takes twice as long this is still a great weight loss rate.

I personally know of many people who used Fat Loss 4 Idiots with great success. I believe that it can also help you to lose 25 pounds fast.

Tips to Achieve Your Optimal Weight Loss and Body Shape

A few simple changes can make all the difference to the long-term health of your body. Here are some tips and suggestions to assist with weight loss and to improve your body and your health.

Food Choices

What you eat and drink gives your body the fuel and energy to carry out all the physical and mental activities that you do every day. Some foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables provide excellent fuel for the body, with lots of beneficial nutrients.

Other foods provide poor quality fuel. These include high sugar content foods and junk foods. What percentage of your current diet is giving you energy efficient, nutrient rich food? Try keeping a diary for a week then analyse where your major energy and body fuel comes from.

Healthy Choices

Choose meals and snacks that are kind to your body. These are natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, salads, grains and pulses. These are living foods. Avoid foods that are over processed, stored too long, high is sugar or fats. These are dead foods with little to offer nutritionally. Variety is also vital, helping you obtain the broad range of nutrients your body requires.

Fibre

Your body needs between 18-35 gms of fibre a day. Fibre, together with water, is essential for proper digestion. Fibre provides the food for friendly bacteria in the colon, which manufactures various essential vitamins. One cup of the following is equal to 10gms of fibre: - oats, peas, dried apricots, peanuts, prunes and sunflower seeds. Half a cup of wheat bran or almonds also equals 10 gm of fibre.

Water Your body is 70% water and it needs a fresh daily supply to ensure cells are hydrated and energized. Water is essential for the digestion of food. Keep your body properly hydrated by drinking 6-8 large glasses a day.

Less is more

Eating large meals puts a great strain on the digestive tract. Choose smaller, more frequent meals. This will keep your fuel tank topped up through out the day. Remember the more you eat the more your body has to either burn off, or store as fat. So eat to live dont live to eat! Slow down eating and enjoy your food. Chewing is essential to assist the digestive process. Eating food quickly, or while stressed, disrupts digestion and the absorption of nutrients.

Get Active

You need enough activity to keep all your moving parts in good working order. Choose the form or exercise that suits you best. Remember to incorporate warming up and cooling down exercises to avoid pulling or straining any muscles.

Relax

When The Workout Is Over

Although of those who know the importance of frequent exercise have a great pre-workout and workout routine, few have understood or spend time to relax their muscles after the completion of a medium or intense exercise program. Even if you drink a lot of water before or during an exercise routine, even of you do the necessary stretching exercises to warm up your muscles before you involve your whole body in any kind of intentional exercise task, most fail to realize the importance of their actions after the exercise portion is complete.

Probably you are feeling tired or have a million things waiting your immediate attention back home, so it is just logical for you to go back to your locker, change and get home to do your staff. But although you may have done the majority of your workout routine just right, the way you treat your body the few minutes after you exercise will directly affect your mood later as you might experience pain from sore muscles, your muscle tone might not strengthen enough to grow, or you might even be dehydrated without realizing it.

So after you finish your last set of exercises, spend some time to cool down. Just because your hour at the gym has ended does not mean that your body can go back to pre-workout state without giving it any time to readjust. Thus, even if you simply jogged for the last half hour of your exercise routine, setting the treadmill to a comfortable but steady walking mode will lower your heart's rate allowing some time for your muscles to come at peace with their new state. After five minutes of this light cardio exercise, you should perform some a short stretching routine. Actually, this stage is the most important one after finishing a workout routine. Since human muscles have the tendency of naturally contracting upon the completion of any exercise, stretching prevents them from shrinking. In fact, stretching allows your muscles to rebuild and grow bigger and stronger each time you conclude your workout session and thus receive the full benefit from your efforts. At the same time performing some basic stretching exercises also allows your muscles to relax and helps your body get rid of any waste substances circulating in your blood. Finally, stretching calms your nerves and anxieties and allows your mind to rejuvenate. This is why stretching is recommended by physicians after long periods of staying at the same position -like when working in the office or traveling by plane.

Moreover, it is important to remember to drink water in order to hydrate your body once the workout is over. Even if you do not feel thirsty you need to replenish yourself to avoid the nasty effects of dehydration.

How to Keep Your New Years Weight Loss Resolution

It's a new year and for millions all over the world that means it's time to make some changes. Resolutions of weight loss are abundant but how many will follow through? What will set you apart from others who promise to cut carbs, calories, and couch potato hours all in the hopes to cut down their jean size? With a little will power and a little know how, you can meet and beat your new years weight loss goals. Use these tips and idea to make sure 2008 brings about a new and smaller wardrobe.

  • Keep a Notebook: Keeping track of your diet is a great way to stay on track. Get a three section notebook and dedicate one section to a food log, one to an exercise log, and the final for progress. By writing down things like your food intake and your weight loss goals you will have a tangible record of your progress. You are more likely to be truthful to your self when you have to write it down. You can change a notion in your mind but you can't change the written fact.
  • Clean Our Your Kitchen: Grab a big black garbage back and head to the kitchen for some winter cleaning. Grab all the unhealthy snacks and dispose of them, replacing them with healthy alternative. If there are goodies in your house you will eat them. Dreams of ice cream can quickly turn into reality when it's conveniently located in your fridge. The opposite is true when you have to make a valiant effort to secure the ice cream. If you need to get in your car and drive to the store you're more likely to decide it's a bad idea and opt for a healthy snack thats already in your home.
  • Take Small Steps for Big Results: Setting high goals is a good thing but expecting to meet them in a small amount of time can be disastrous. If your goal is to lose 15 pounds consider breaking that up into 5 pounds every two weeks. Setting smaller goals on the way to your final goal will help you stay motivated.
  • Reward Your Self: Set up a reward system for your self. For example, set 20 dollars aside for every 5 pounds you lose. Once you reach your goal take your money and go shopping for new clothes to fit your new figure. This will give you something to look forward and help keep you on track.
  • Enlist a Friend: When it comes to weight loss sometimes your best ally is a buddy. Find a friend who shares similar goal and make a pact to keep each other on track. Together you can exercise, plan healthy meals, and give moral support when your feeling lazy or are about to indulge in some fatty sweets. While you may feel a little guilt letting your self down, you are bound to feel bad if you let your friend fall with you so work together to hold each other up.

Tensing Exercises for Minor Muscles

There are many deep-seated minor muscles that are not called into activity by special exercises. By this inactivity, the capillaries and the microscopic veins that should nourish them may become clogged thus losing their elasticity and efficiency. The larger arteries, veins and muscles will deteriorate under like conditions. It is therefore necessary to bring this dormant machinery into action.

To do this, lie on your side and fold your arms across your chest. Grasp your elbows with your hands, throw your head well back, and stretch your body to its full length. In this position, exert at first, only half of the strength of your folded arms (the pressure coming upon the elbows, over which your hands are clasped). As you do this, stretch and tense your entire body until it becomes rigid.

Hold this position for two to three seconds, as the effect is as though you were lifting a heavy weight. Relax for a few seconds; then repeat the exercise. Three or four alternate movements of tensing and relaxing are enough. This exercise will set the blood tingling in every vein and, most probably, will be followed at first by perspiration.

Begin the exercise cautiously. Exert only half your force in the pressure of the folded arms, and gradually increase, as your strength increases. Begin with not more than three or four movements. Increase slowly until you have reached ten, which will be sufficient.

Lying on your side, as in the preceding exercise, clasp one hand only around the ankle of the upper leg. In this position, pull with your full strength, holding the strain for a few seconds; then relax.

Begin with ten alternate relaxing and tensing movements and increase to twenty-five as your physical condition improves.

You will find the tension of the shoulder muscles in this effort different from the preceding exercise, the strain being across the shoulders as well as downward. This, like that of the pulling exercise, is perfectly safe. The muscles specially brought into action are those that make up the neck yoke and those immediately around the shoulder sockets. It is designed to strengthen and generally develop the muscles of the back.

Is Weight Loss Surgery As Dangerous As It Sounds?

Weight loss surgery is an option that can be availed by persons with severe over weight problem. However a surgery to reduce the body weight should be the last option for a person who suffers the problem of over weight. Initially one has to try to reduce his weight by diet control and regular exercise. If only these methods fail that a person should opt for surgery to reduce his body weight.

If you are a person thinking of undergoing a surgery to resolve the problems associated with the over weight of your body, try to be aware and conscious about the complications that a weight loss surgery like this can bring to you. First of all you will have to confirm as to whether you will be able to withstand a surgery of this nature by consulting your family doctor. If you are not consulting with your family doctor you should disclose all the minute details of your health problems to your surgeon. Following are the persons who are generally considered as ideal candidates for weight loss surgery by the doctors

Men with a Body Mass Index that exceeds 40

Women with a Body Mass Index more than 35

Persons with a history of medical disorders associated with overweight such as diabetes, cardiopulmonary diseases and obesity induced musculoskeletal disorders

Persons who have failed to reduce weight by using other non surgical methods of weight-loss treatments.

A person with 18 or more years of age

One can expect all the potential complications associated with a general surgery in the surgery for weight loss also. These complications include respiratory problems, excessive bleeding, allergic reactions to the medicines and risk of infections.

Along with these, one can expect some other complications that are associated with a surgery to reduce body weight. These complications include spreading of stomach acids to other parts of the abdomen, vitamin and mineral deficiencies and dumping syndrome.

Still surgical treatment for weight loss is a blessing for many who are confined to their place due to over weight of their body. Such persons will be able resume their normal life and avoid or at least control the medical problems associated with obesity if they can reduce their weight to the permissible limits.

The main draw back of a weight loss surgery is that only persons with extra will power can undergo it and come out of it successfully.

Fitness Interval Training for Beginners and Elite Athletes

Fitness interval training, if you aren't currently using it, could be the very thing to boost your exercise motivation as well as your fat-burning capacity. This is a method of training that combines different levels of exercise intensity during the same exercise session.

Training in this fashion creates an increased tolerance to lactic acid buildup. The will substantially increase both your aerobic and anaerobic capacities to exercise. In other words, you will be able to exercise longer and see more improvements without all of the soreness typically seen in less conditioned individuals.

Elite competitive athletes have long used interval training to maximize their performance potential. These athletes typically exercise at extremes that would not be recommended for the general population. However, anyone can benefit from moderate intensity intervals. Obviously, you should consult with your physician prior to implementing any exercise program. Additionally, you may want to work with a certified personal trainer on how to best use a fitness interval training program for maximum benefits.

Interval training involves the gradual increasing of exercise intensity until the anaerobic threshold is being approached. This will be perceived as your maximal effort. After exercising at this intensity for a specified period of time the intensity is then decreased. This interval continues for a period and is followed by another interval of increased intensity.

Fitness interval training can be used as a part of both your aerobic and strength training workouts. Here are some advantages you will discover in both forms of these essential exercise programs:

Aerobic Workout:

Improved cardiac endurance

Improved ability for prolonged slow cardio workouts

Enhanced muscle-building capacity

Prevention of boredom

Higher number of calories burned

Strength training workout:

More calories burned

More muscle groups worked in less time

Faster strength gains

Faster toning and shaping of muscles

Prevention of boredom

How would a beginning exerciser incorporate fitness interval training into their exercise routine?

This is a good question because this type of training is great for beginners. Beginners will notice much quicker results using interval training. Here's how you might begin.

For your aerobic program you might start with 20 minute exercise sessions. You decide that walking will be the form of exercise you use. You might walk at what you consider a good pace for you for 5 minutes. You then walk more briskly for one minute. You then alternate these two speeds until you complete your exercise session. Each week you might change the intensity or time of your more intense interval. Eventually you may even work in some 30 second jogging intervals.

Remember to always warm up and cool down. Incorporating these more intense intervals will bring you much quicker results in your conditioning and appearance.

I hope you are now motivated to give fitness interval training a try. You will not be disappointed in your results.

The Exercise Prescription

There is a saying that is 100% true. "There is no such thing as a proper diet without exercise."

Most of us have accepted that fact, but still little of us really abide by it. When most if us feel the need to trim down a bit we first look to change what we eat.

While dieting can produce great results alone, diet and exercise and basically double it. Just think about how much faster your waistline would slim down if you not only started cutting out fats and reducing calories, but also went on a jog that burned off 600 more calories.

Now, if you did that you not only benefit from just the loss of calories, but you get the benefit of gaining muscle. Muscle is the fat burning machine in your body. The more lean muscle you have the faster you body can burn that fat off. They go hand in hand.

There are tons of things that are a lot of fun to do that give you great exercise. I can name plenty, but it is up to you to find one that you enjoy. Most importantly, stick with it. If you take up tennis. Play tennis! Play it 2 or 3 times a week if you can. Or play once a week and hit the pool 3 times a week. It does not matter what you do, it only matters that you do it.

That is the key to success. Get it done. Get out there and sweat.

Another thing that I will highly suggest is strength training. Good ole working out with weights. Strength training offers the most muscle building ounce for ounce. It would take me another 10 pages of writing to list all the benefits of strength training.

while many do not like going to the gym going just once or twice a week would still get you results. Once you get results, you will start liking the gym a little more. I can guarantee that.

I did mention diet before and I would like to make just one simple suggestion. There are so many diet fads out there, so ignore them all. You know what is good for you and what is not. You already know that you need protein after a workout. However, there is one tip that I know for a fact will jump start your results.

Cut your fat intake in half and double your fiber.

This does so much for the body and it is a simple rule to follow.

Keep your diet in check and exercise. That is the formula for a proper diet.

Which Are The Best Ways To Burn Fat Fast

It is a question many want answering and the good news is that there are several answers to the question that could help you. Healthy eating and exercise are of course the methods you will here mentioned the most but is there anything that can make it happen faster?

Something you may not have tried before is adding specific products to your diet which can help your body to digest food faster and increase your metabolism. Coconut oil, flax seeds and apple cider vinegar can all do this and are also highly nutritious.

Using these 3 products regularly will therefore lower the amount of time it takes for your body to get rid of belly fat. If used properly you can start seeing results from adding these simple products within a month and the results will also be lasting ones. They all also have health benefits.

To really advance the level at which you get rid of belly fat there is also a diet which gets great results and fast. The diet is called calorie shifting and it works by increasing the level at which your metabolism works. The best thing about the method is that it is extremely simple to stick with and at no point involves almost starving yourself.

Instead it works by manipulating your metabolism by eating different calorie values for each meal and each day plus eating 4 meals a day to keep it working at all times. Usually your body gets used to a routine and slows or speeds up your metabolism accordingly which is why many diets suddenly grind to a halt. Thanks to the constant change in your eating patterns though, calorie shifting continues to work for as long as you like.

There is also a plan which includes a menu generator which helps if you are one of those who think they would struggle to come up with 4 meals a day. You simply put in the types of food you like and a menu will be designed especially for you.

Most users of the calorie shifting diet record results of at least 8 pounds of weight loss every 2 weeks and many claim even greater results. If you really want the best ways to burn fat fast then you won't find better ways than the ones in this article.

What's The Best Way To Lose Weight Fast?

Many of us who are somewhat overweight feel we'd be happy if we could just lose about 25 lbs (give or take!). But - we want to lose weight fast, and in the right places...Is this a realistic goal, or does it only happen in TV ads?

Well it is possible but not overnight, - if you want to keep healthy. Too rapid a weight loss can be very harmful to your body, so you have to pick a safe goal. This is normally a maximum of 3lbs per week. So losing 21 lbs is going to take you almost two months.

Not fast enough? Well check with your doctor before you embark on a more ambitious program to lose weight fast. Remember, you really have two goals:

- Lose the weight

- Avoid regaining it

Some diet plans are quite aggressive. The Atkins diet (in phase 1) can cause you to lose weight quite quickly. Meal replacement products like Ensure also help. Of course reducing portion sizes, and eating smaller amounts more often can help a lot in achieving your weight loss goal. One problem is, once you are on a restricted food type of diet you may well be missing out on important nutrients that you body needs. You should be taking vitamin supplements and choosing the foods you eat very carefully to get the maximum nutritional value.

Another key factor is water. Any weight loss program has a risk of dehydration. You need to drink the well-known '8 glasses of water per day' - at least.

Strength training exercises are a must if you are trying to burn off excess fat. This type of exercise will cause your body to get the energy it needs from stored fat reserves. Other exercise like aerobics, walking or cycling are good for burning calories, so you will not end up each day with an excess that can get converted to fat. Finally, stretching exercises like Yoga are excellent for toning your body and increasing the flexibility in your muscles and joints.

Now if this all sounds like a lot of work - it is! But if you want to lose quickly (and safely) then you don't have much choice. Ask yourself - "how motivated am I"? If you are really serious about getting in shape then this is a good way to start. However, losing weight is kind of like quitting smoking. You can't go back to your old habits. Like the famous coach Yogi Berra said 'baseball is 90% mental -- the other half is physical!'. In other words a lot of this stuff is in your head. If you can't get around this, then you are in trouble from day one.

The best way is to start off with a diet program that will cause you to lose weight fast. After you've lost some initial pounds you should be motivated to continue. Then it's time to ease off into a more gradual type of diet and exercise routine that will lead to long-term weight loss and a significant change in your lifestyle.

Remember, it is possible and lots of people do it - and you'll feel better not only physically, but mentally as well.

Hoodia Gordonii - Weight Loss and More?

Hoodia Gordonii has made quite an impact in the world of diet and weight loss. Used correctly, then it is certain that one will lose weight and on will stay slim. Just add a little bit of self-discipline to avoid cakes and chocolate and yout weight stays ideal.

Looking only at this, it is already amazing enough: a natural remedy, a plant, for weight loss without any chemical supplements and without any side-effects. Too much already? There is even more.

Many users of Hoodia Gordonii report to us that the taking of Hoodia Gordonii is worthwhile not only for the weight loss and the slimming. They say that when they take Hoodia they experience a general improvement in their health, in their mood. Their statement in general is: "When I take Hoodia Gordonii, I feel just better!" Additionally, there are reports from diabetics that they have an improved ability, to regulate the blood sugar, when they take Hoodia Gordonii.

Well, let's have a look at this. It is a fact that Hoodia Gordonii contains, besides the P57, a lot of other ingredients. Some of them may be responsible for the easier passing of sugar and other nutrients, through the cell-membranes. With this, Hoodia Gordonii would improve the basic metabolism and energy creation. The "fuel" in the body just gets used better.

Now it just would be logical. Naturally, staying slim is easiest, when a given amount of food lasts longer and therefore one eats less. This means: if one eats an apple and this apple delivers nutrients for 2 hours to your body, you will want another apple after 2 hours. If this apple lasts, with the help of Hoodia, for 4 hours, you want the next apple after 4 hours. And now it is an easy calculation: one eats 12 apples and the other one 6 apples who will be slimmer?

Hoodia also has the effect that the stomach gets emtiied slower. This way it contributes to a steady and slow release of proteins, carbohydrates and fats. This, obviously, lowers the stress for the endocrine and the glandular system, because normally surges of nutrients cause highs and lows of blood sugar, a roller coaster ride of inner stability. A slower and steadier inflow takes a lot of stress of the body and this, quite logically, helps you to feel well. To make it sound really good in other words, you could say: the intake of Hoodia Gordonii improves your energy and helps with rejuvenation and systemic renewal!

So, to cut a long story short: staying slim with Hoodia Gordonii is so easy, because it keeps the available amount of food longer in the stomach, because it makes the body use the available food better and therefore it makes us eat less!

On top of all this, Hoodia Gordonii is also a rich source of hormonal substrates, which the body can use to promote and regulate hormonal balance. Some people who use Hoodia Gordonii say that they feel "like being on a mood elevator"! So far there is no scientific proof for this and also no research is done - yet.

Cabbage Soup Diet - Cruciferous Cabbage Can Kill Cancer Cells

Aside from its role in the Cabbage Soup Diet, cabbage also plays an important part in fighting against Cancer. Cancer is one of the primary causes of the increasing mortality rate in the world. It affects everyone - the rich and the poor, the young and the old, men, women, and children alike.

Although cancer is mainly hereditary, we can still do ways to avoid it. One of which is consuming cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli and cabbage.

Researches and Studies in Cabbages

In the National Cancer Research Conference held recently in Britain, a study was conducted and presented that green leafy vegetables such as cabbage and Brussels sprout contain a certain compound - indole-3-carbinol (I3C) - that can be used to kill cancer cells, most especially when used in combination with the chemotherapy drugs. The indole group of sulfur compounds binds to the chemical carcinogens and stimulates enzymes that will detoxify those carcinogens. The I3C found in cabbages appear to have the effects on estrogen metabolism, helping prevent breast cancer. Such compound is also significant in preventing or retarding cancer of the prostate.

A study was also conducted by the Netherlands Cohort on Diet and Cancer. The study revealed that those eating the most vegetables gained a 25% drop in their colorectal risk. However, those who consumed the most cruciferous vegetables benefited a 49% lower risk for colorectal cancer.

Cabbages Fight Against Cancer

In Singapore, a study found that in non-smokers, regular consumption of cruciferous vegetables reduced lung cancer risk by 30%. Meanwhile, a 69% drop in lung cancer risk was found with the smokers.

A research which was published in the International Journal of Cancer has proven that cabbages, along with other cruciferous vegetables, can also reduce the risk of bladder cancer.

Crucifers' well-known properties in fighting against cancer are thought to have resulted from their great levels of active phytochemicals known as glucosinolates. These phytochemicals are metabolized by our bodies into powerful and rather effective anti-carcinogens known as isothiocyanates.

Proven Benefits of Cabbages

Studies, both in humans and animals, have consistently shown that diets that are high in cruciferous vegetables, such as cabbage, are associated with lower occurrence of a variety of cancer.

With the 94 studies that have shown the relationship between Brassica or cruciferous vegetables and cancer, 70% of the studies revealed that cabbage consumption was more associated with a lower risk of cancer, especially of the stomach, colon, and lung.

The protective benefits of cabbage and other cruciferous vegetables were even more evident in three groups typically at higher risk for cancer: smokers, men, and older individuals who aged at least 64. Consuming half of a head of cabbage everyday or very large amounts of other cruciferous vegetables is what it would take for you to have the kind of health risk reduction that you are searching for.

And to get the most benefit and advantage from your cruciferous vegetables, most especially the cabbages, ensure that you choose organically grown vegetables because their phytonutrients levels are primarily higher than those cabbages that are conventionally grown. Lightly steam your cabbages as this method of cooking retains the most phytonutrients and maximizes their availability.
