A lot of people want to lose weight fast for an event such as a wedding, a reunion or a party. If you find yourself wishing that you were 20 pounds slimmer but don't have a lot of time in which to pull off, read this article without skipping a single word because I shall review 2 ways in which you can lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks.

If you want to lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks you can do it in 2 ways:

1. Go on a juice based detox diet. This kind of diet cleanses your body of toxins and undigested food while providing you with carbs and sugars. Although this diet isn't suitable for a long duration, as a "crash" diet meant to help you lose a lot of weight in a short period of time, it can be extremely effective.

2. It you like working out and can spare the time, you can lose 20 pounds by doing a lot of cardiovascular activity over two weeks. I suggest doing 1 hour aerobic workout for 5 days on each of the 2 weeks. You can jog, power walk, cycle, swim or whatever you like. It you want to play basketball, tennis or take some aerobic classes, that's fine too.

Don't do massive workouts and go on a juice diet simultaneously. If your chose to burn off 20 pounds by exercising you'll need your strength. Reduce the ammount of carbs that you consume but eat a lot of vegetables, fruit and protein. Make sure that all your fats are healthy ones like olive oil and canola oil.

Losing 20 Lbs in 2 weeks isn't the easiest thing in the world but if you believe in yourself and are willing to put in a little effort, I'm positive the you can do it.

The UK Weight Loss Program That Is Sweeping The Nation

There is a weight loss program which is becoming increasingly popular here in the UK. Why is this weight loss plan so popular? Fact number one, it does not involve increasing your current level of exercise. Fact number two, it enables you to still eat take-away foods such as chips, pizza, a Chinese or a curry. Fact number three, it works. I will be revealing all in this article.

There is a belief among a number of the dietary experts in the UK that the main reason for obesity is the amount of food that people in between meals, they call them snack foods. These include items such as crisps, peanuts, chocolate and cakes. These snacks are full of calories however do little to fill you up. They also have the affect, possibly because they are so tasty of making you want to eat more and more of them.

These experts also believe that if people who were attempting to lose weight could some how be able to compete with other people in the same situation that this could be the catalyst to some successful results.

Here is the basis of the weight loss program:

1. A group of people sign up for the program and agree to be truthful about what they have eaten, at the end of the day they will only be deceiving themselves if they do in fact lie.
2. They then only eat the three main meals of the day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. This therefore means that they are not supposed to eat any food in between the meals. The three meals however can include take-away foods up to a maximum of twice a week.
3. They then e-mail each other at the start of each day, where possible, with a diary of what they ate the previous day.
4. In time they all see a major reduction in weight and a change in attitude towards food and the amount they need to eat.
5. They are all happy bunnies!

The way that it works is quite simple. I am currently on this program and it has to be said that the temptation to eat the snack type foods is immense. The mere fact that I have to write down everything I am eating and report it back to the other members of the group is usually enough for me to keep my discipline. I must admit that I have faltered a couple of times but I was honest enough to admit this to the group.

I am losing weight, slowly but surely and have to say that I am actually enjoying the whole experience, its kind of fun!

Weight Training With A Weight Loss Goal

In a weight loss, or fat loss phase as I prefer to call it, weight training is considered a very important ingredient to the equation. The main emphasis of weight training in the fat loss phase is maintenance of muscle tissue.

Muscle tissue shapes and forms the contours of the body. I'm not saying you can change the shape of a muscle because that's physically impossible. It does, however, have a discernable shape that is reflected on the male or female body. So, if all emphasis were placed on cardiovascular or energy system development (ESD), as I call it, there would definitely be some muscle wasting going on.

This causes a loss in shape or lack of shape improvement when in a weight loss phase. Muscle is considered the primary indicator of metabolism. Basically, it single handedly determines how many calories the body burns. So if you lose muscle through exercise or dieting, you burn fewer calories through daily processes.

So, in a weight loss training program, we want to maintain or even add muscle to our frame through proper exercise prescription. The use of compound movements needs to be emphasized. This includes, but is not limited to, various forms of: squats ,deadlifts , pulls and pushes. Specific examples would be barbell squats, barbell bench press, chin ups, etc.

The frequency of weight training can vary, but keep in mind that maintenance of muscle tissue is the goal. The majority of training should be based on ESD. Weight workouts should include circuit training, supersets, tri sets, etc. to burn up energy and/or stimulate growth hormone which has been linked to fat mobilization and usage. Still, one session of the week should be devoted to lifting as heavy a weight as possible in good form. This is the most important lifting session of the week as far as muscle is concerned in a weight loss phase. By placing an overload on the system, the body has little choice but to hold onto that energy consuming tissue called muscle.

Repetitions for all lifts during each training session are going to be highly individual to the trainee. Beginners and women need to use a higher repetition range due to having less neurologically efficient central nervous systems. Basically, this means they aren't able to use as much muscle per repetition as someone with more experience. Both populations obviously improve with training. Intermediate and advanced trainees, on the other hand, need to use lower ranges. The one exception is when growth hormone or lactate producing workouts are to be performed. For this type of workout the range needs to be from 12-20.

One quick side note. Women shouldn't be afraid to lift heavy weights. I see it all the time at every gym I've ever been to. Lots of cardio and very little weight training. Most women need to get stronger. The concern of getting "big, bulky muscles" is so outdated it makes me sick. If you sit and worry about getting these "big, bulky muscles", consider all the men out there who are doing everything they know to get "big, bulky muscles" and are having a hard time achieving that. Men have a distinct advantage, with few exceptions from the female population, in stimulating muscle growth. The hormone, testosterone, is one of the main factors in this process. Women produce much less of it and therefore have a harder time adding muscle mass. I'm not saying women can't add muscle, it just might take a little longer or be a little harder to accomplish. Now make the necessary changes in your program and get started!

Weight Loss Workout Routine

Everyone who wants to be successful at losing weight has got to have a workout routine. A routine that you stick to every day. The workout routine you choose has to be an effective one, and you have to be willing to do it, it has to be in your comfort zone. Choosing a workout routine is actually more difficult than it sounds, because you have to decide what you're going to work on which day. You have to decide when to have a day off. What time of day do you workout? There are so many questions, that I can't answer, and only you can decide.

My Weight Loss Workout Routine

Now this is an example of my weight loss workout routine, hopefully this will give you an idea of what is needed in a routine, or you can just copy this one, as it works for me, and has proven itself to be quite effective.

Monday - Work on Chest/Back

Tuesday - Work on Shoulders

Wednesday - Go for a quick swim before work

Thursday - Work on Biceps/Triceps

Friday - Work on Legs

Saturday - Quick morning jog then rest of the day off

Sunday - off

As you can see it's a tight routine. But every single day I spend at least an hour working out the only exception is Saturday, when I go on a jog which usually takes me about 45 minutes, and a Sunday.

You don't have to follow this exactly, but it gives you a good idea of what you have to do to lose weight. You change it accordingly, but you should definatley spend at least 4 hours a week, working out.

Tip 4

Get a pedometer. Attach it to yourself for a week, and work out how many steps you do in an average day. If you are asking yourself how can I lose weight fast, try and add a thousand steps a day. Walk to the park, or the store, or just around the block a few times. Whatever it takes. Weight Loss and Exercise - How Much is Enough?

Weight loss programs vary in many ways, but they all have this in common: diet must be accompanied by exercise. Either one by itself is not sufficient. I have a good friend who bemoans the fact that no matter how carefully he eats, he can't get his weight down where it should be. He also refuses to get any exercise. Although this is a common scenario, the reverse is also true. I have seen lots of guys in the gym who work out like maniacs, but they don't reach their target weight because they refuse to give up poor eating habits.

Granted, a balance of diet and exercise must be present in your weight loss program. But between the extremes of the couch potato and the body builder, how much exercise is enough?

The good news is you don't have to work out like a maniac, you don't have to swallow fistfuls of weight loss medication, and you don't have to eat like a fashion model. A middle-path of reasonable eating patterns (the right foods at the right times) and moderate, but consistent exercise will promote quick healthy weight loss and long-term weight control.

I am presently testing a weight loss supplement and diet program called The Cheia Vida Slim 10 Day Slim Down Challenge, and reporting the results on my blog. (See below.) The simple, anyone-can-do-it exercise regimen that the creator of the program, Dr. Charles Rouse, recommends is this: just get 10 to 15 minutes of exercise twice per day. I know that some of you are thinking that this isn't enough to make a difference, and that's the worst thing you could think. Inevitably, this frame of mind leads to inactivity, and the calories keep turning into fat.

In fact, that's one of my stumbling blocks. I'm an old athlete who's accustomed to spending intense hour-long sessions in the gym 4-5 days per week. (But I haven't had a gym membership in 4 years, which has really helped my weight gain.) So when I hear about doing something for 10 minutes twice per day, it doesn't seem to me that it would be worth the effort to lace up my shoes.

This kind of all or nothing thinking is exactly what allows the weight gain to sneak up on us over time, as it did in my case, aided by the aging process. Instead of doing a little, we choose to do nothing, and so the extra grams of fat add up and eventually become pounds. Think of it as caloric compound interest.

So take a look at this: even 10 minutes twice per day adds up to 200 minutes in 10 days, or 3 hours and 20 minutes! Do it everyday for a month, and you have 10 hours of exercise with just two 10-minute sessions per day. 10 hours of fat-burning for just 20 minutes per day. I can do that. In fact, that's ridiculously easy.

It's ironic that we gain weight (fat) by adding on small amounts of extra calories (that our bodies don't need) on a daily basis, but we're so reluctant to reverse the process and add up the exercise in small daily amounts to burn some of those extra calories and negate the added weight. Incremental weight loss is just as possible as incremental weight gain.

Everybody, EVERYBODY, can find 10 minutes twice per day to simply walk briskly. (Just 15 minutes of brisk walking burns about 100 calories.) Dr. Rouse recommends starting the day, even before leaving for work if possible, by walking away from your home for 5 minutes, then walking back. If possible do it before you eat breakfast for best calorie -burning results.

Another way to get in some walking time: just park farther away from your place of work, or from the front of the mall or the grocery store. Anytime you have the chance to walk an extra 50 or 100 feet or more, do it. I started doing this several years ago, and now I don't even think about it. (Though often a friend will ask, "Why are we parking way out here?") Again, it's terribly easy to do. If I hadn't been doing this over the last few years, I'd probably be carrying an additional 5 pounds right now.

If you take a long-term view with this approach, you'll really benefit. Instead of the extra weight we add on over the weeks and months and years, do the same with a little exercise. Taking advantage of these mini-workouts will add up to serious calorie burning if done consistently. Sure, sometimes you'll have to miss a day, but you can make it up when you have more time.

That's the beauty of this little bit here, and little bit there approach: it's easy, and it works, if you'll just do it. Step up your activity level and burn some fat. Admittedly, during my product test, I'm attempting fast weight loss. For this to happen, the Cheia Vida Slim weight loss pill (capsule actually) has to do its job and burn fat, suppress my appetite, and help clean some of the gunk out of my system. We'll see if it does.

And heres more good news: when you exercise, you feel better immediately. Instant gratification! And the good feeling you experience makes you want to do it again. Then when you start dropping a few pounds, you feel even better! Now you're excited to keep it going.

What you've done is create a process that feeds on itself. Momentum. Sort of like pushing a car on a slight down-hill grade: the difficult part is getting it moving. Once you do, it wants to keep on going. So although it may be hard to get started, do it! Get moving, a little bit here and a little bit there, and start burning some calories. Within a few weeks, it will become a healthy weight loss habit you can be proud of.

Almost everybody struggles with their weight at some point in their lives. For most of us, this turns into an ongoing struggle that only gets more difficult as we get older. The reason you cannot lose weight by starving yourself (using a low calorie diet) is because your metabolism will detect any major drop in calories and it will then ADJUST ITSELF by burning fewer calories each day.


For example:
If you begin eating 2,500 calories per day then your metabolism will adjust itself so that your body begins burning 2,500 calories per day.

If you try to starve yourself by suddenly eating 1,000 calories per day then your metabolism will again ADJUST ITSELF so that your body begins to burn only 1,000 calories per day. That's why you have failed in your past dieting attempts, that's why you always seem to fail when you try and starve yourself.

Now you know the reason why you can eat 1,000 calories per day and not lose any weight while your friends can eat 2,500 calories per day and not gain any weight.

Also, virtually every person in today's society is buying mostly "low fat" or "non fat" food at the grocery store, everybody is conscious of the "fat grams" inside the food they buy. However, people are getting fatter than ever by doing this and people are not losing weight by switching to the "low fat lifestyle".

Those ridiculous "low carb" diets have certainly become popular in recent years, but of course those are just thinly disguised starvation diets. If you don't think so then check out these facts below about Atkins....

The Atkins Diet limits your carb intake to ONLY 20 grams of "net carbs" per day during the first phase of the diet.......which means that you cannot even eat a single large apple during the first phase of the Atkins Diet (since even a large apple has more than 20 grams of net carbs).

...And if you want to continue through all of the phases of the Atkins Diet, then it will take another 4 MONTHS (16 weeks) before you'll be allowed to eat just 400 carb calories per day -- and any typical restaurant meal has more carbs than that. So this is really just another form of starving yourself (and making yourself MISERABLE), which is not the answer.
