As you can see boosting your metabolism involves many factors, but the fact of the matter is that it is relatively easy to boost your metabolism if you are committed to doing so.

Here are 11 tips to help you boost your metabolism:

1. Build lean body mass. As we age our bodies metabolism or ability to burn calories decreases. One way to offset this problem is by exercising. Lean muscle burns calories and the more you have the more calories you burn, even while resting. You can build muscle through resistance or weight training at least twice a week. You can also boost your metabolism by doing cardio exercises. You can choose to do this between or in conjunction with weight training. Simply going for a walk or using the stairs instead of the elevator are good ways to get in an aerobic workout.

2. Eat Breakfast. Many people ignore eating breakfast. What they dont realize is that its the most important meal of the day. Breakfast gives your metabolism a boost and provides a consistent energy supply throughout the day. The majority of people who eat a healthy breakfast have fewer weight and health issues than those who dont.

3. Sugar is bad. Processed and refined sugar such as found in sweets and soft drinks overload the body with sugar causing many serious health issues including obesity and diabetes. Complex carbohydrates are a better energy source because they supply an even level of blood sugar. The human body just isnt built to deal with the large amounts of refined sugar most people include in their diet.

4. Spicy foods that make you sweat can help boost your metabolism.

5. Get a good nights sleep. There is research that shows that people who do not get sufficient sleep tend to gain weight. This may be because the body uses sleep to heal and regenerate itself, including its muscular system.

8. Dont miss meals. Skipping meals in order to loose weight is counter productive because it actually slow metabolism and can lead to over eating.

9. Plan your meals. If you have a daily or weekly menu you are much more likely to stick to your plan.

10. Drink green tea. Green tea has been shown to boost metabolism and unlike coffee does not stress the body with caffeine.

11. Include more high energy foods in your diet including fruits, vegetables and whole grains. These provide a more balanced energy source and will not cause blood sugar spikes.

Why Can't I Lose Weight?

You really want to lose weight, you've been trying to lose weight and get fit for some time, but somehow it just isn't happening. "Why not?" I hear you scream through clenched teeth.

Well, there are probably several reasons and the most likely of them are

1. You are still eating too much. It is astounding how much the average person can pack into their stomach in the course of a day. Once you develop a habit of eating up big, it takes a really conscious effort to cut down.

You must not eat till you feel full cause it takes your stomach 20 minutes to get the message. You can consume a lot of calories in 20 minutes and this may be where you are doing the damage. Or you could be mindlessly grazing all day. Either way, you have to keep careful track of how much you eat.

2. You are eating the wrong type of food at the wrong times. It you wake up each day determined to eat less, you may be starving yourself at the wrong end of the day.

Many would-be weight-losers begin their day with deprivation; no breakfast, no morning tea, a low fat tub of yoghurt for late lunch, a small sugar hit for afternoon tea, a pre-dinner drink or two with a packet of salty snacks, a big dinner complete with plenty of carbs, a rich desert, a well deserved bedtime snack (because you ate hardly anything all day).

And next day, with the acrid stench of defeat hanging heavily in the air, back to skipping breakfast again.

It is no deprivation for you to turn your calorie intake upside down, it's just a new habit that will take a few short weeks to get used to.

If you eat a decent breakfast, have healthy snacks morning and afternoon and sit down to a really nutritious lunch, you will use those calories for good (giving you the energy to think and work and exercise) not evil (parking excess fat on your poor innocent hips and belly).

3. You are not allowing your body to partake of the regular exercise it needs. You have to incorporate heart rate lifting, mood enhancing, fat burning exercise into your weekly routine. Up to one hour a day brisk walking will do it for you (have a rainy day contingency plan so you don't fall off your program).

If you know you need to lose weight, if you feel unhappy about your weight and you don't like the way you look, then you have to change what you are currently doing to alter your thoughts, feelings and body shape.

That's about all there is to it. Eat less than your overweight body needs, eat the right foods at the right time and get moving every day. Then, and only then, you will be assured of losing weight.

Just think about it - you used to eat every now and then and now that you are dieting, you got to restrict your food intake. Obviously your body is quite surprised at the change of food habits but hey, there are ways you can make sure you can diet for a long time without troubling your body! In this article I will give you five tips to lose weight effectively!

1. Remove Sugary Foods from your kitchen. Do a search in your kitchen as well as the refrigerator and make sure there is no food left there that has high sugar content. Sugar or sucrose easily converts into carbohydrates once it enters into body. And as a matter of fact, unused carbohydrates are easily turned into fat by the body. You therefore, as a rule, should avoid sugar and sugar-rich foods.

2.Stop eating processed foods. Not only some of them are high on calorie count, processed foods also contain a lot of natural and unnatural preservatives. While natural preservatives won't harm your body much, unnatural preservatives can cause acidity, stomach disorder and loss of energy!

3. Start walking. Get off that couch and take a walk. Exercise is a vital component of weight loss, but if you cannot or won't want to exercise, simply walking will help you burn calories. Brisk walking is good, but jogging or running will rid you of even more fat! Make sure you increase your daily activity level regularly. If you continuously remain seated on your couch, you won't be able to burn fat!

4. Most people forget the simple advice that water is good for everyone, more so for those who are overweight. Best Way To Lose Weight

Many products claim to be the best way to lose weight from diet pills, to patches to meals delivered to our home but we all know the best and only way to lose weight fast is a change in diet and exercise.

The exercise part is actually pretty easy although most think it is the hard part. Simply walking thirty minutes a day can provide the basic exercise needed to begin a great fat loss program. I look at it as working for my food and make a point of purposely walking back and forth across the store to get the things I need as a way of getting in that thirty minutes of walking. There is absolutely no need to feel like we are starving ourselves to start on the way to rapid and continued weight loss when a good program that details how and what to eat will leave us feeling satisfied throughout the day. I actually eat more than three meals a day on my current plan and never feel like I am hungry.

There was a time when I threw elaborate theme parties for my bday each year. But for the last couple I've been slacking off. JUST A BIT. Obviously enough, this year with all that I've been trying to pull off for GeeQtv, I didn't even bother. But next July 30th, The 1 year anniversary of GeeQtv will also be my 26th bday, and I wanna party! It'll be a party not only for my bday but hopefully in celebration of actually completing the 25 tasks I have set forth for myself. Throughout the year I'll be planning and prepping for the biggest bash I can... and you'll all be invited.

Uhm, it's been over two years since I last left the Island, and I think it's time for a vacation. Work offers me the time off, I might as well make use of it right?! Problem is, I've only ever been to the West coast of the US and the other Hawaiian Islands... I need something new, something exciting, and I'll expect your help with deciding where I'm going to go this year. Anyone got any suggestions?

I need to get in shape. BADLY. For a long time I capped out at 215, and that didn't really bother me. Then earlier this year I went on a diet for about a month until circumstances beyond my control caused me to semi give up. After having lost 25 lbs in about a month... IT ALL CAME BACK, and it brought friends. When I stepped on the scale a few weeks ago and saw I had busted open that cap...It's time to lose it and get me some muscle...

It has always been a goal in my life to be an inspiration to others. In fact, I've always felt the true purpose of life is to lead by example. So through my actions this year, I hope to inspire others. Obviously enough, this is the one major task I will not be able to judge for myself as to whether or not I pulled it off. That's where you all come in. If my actions inspire you, let me know. Through comments, or video responses... through making your own episodes of GeeQtv starring YOU... Inspiration is a two way street, and he who offers me the knowledge that my actions have inspired him, inspires me to do more.
